Summary
Free Santa Fe River launch with access to multiple springs
Located at the SR 47 bridge just south of High Springs, Gilchrist County Santa Fe River Park provides public access to a scenic and spring-rich stretch of the Santa Fe River. This is a quiet county river park designed primarily as a launch point for paddlers rather than a developed spring swimming area.
Important: This park is not the same as Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park upstream. Gilchrist County Santa Fe River Park is free, less developed, and focused on river access.
Park Facilities
The park has been recently improved and offers more comfort than many primitive river launches while still maintaining a natural feel.
Amenities include a boat ramp for small craft, a floating dock that makes launching kayaks and canoes easier, paved access roads and parking areas, covered picnic pavilions with tables, additional shaded picnic tables, a portable restroom, and a short walking path or trail area.
It is popular for launching kayaks and canoes, starting downstream paddle trips past multiple springs, floating the river in tubes, and enjoying a quieter, more natural alternative to crowded spring parks. Many paddlers arrange shuttle trips and spend several hours exploring this stretch of the river.
Good to Know
This area is best suited for small paddlecraft rather than large motorboats. River levels can change after heavy rain. Some riverbanks are private property, so visitors should remain in the water when stopping along the river. Bring drinking water, sun protection, and river shoes, and expect a natural river environment without lifeguards or designated swim zones.
Visiting With Dogs
Dogs can accompany you for a river outing, but this is not a dog park and there are no dedicated pet facilities. Bring water for your dog, keep them leashed, and be mindful of wildlife and uneven terrain near the riverbanks.
