Summary
Pickard Spring is a second-magnitude spring located along the Santa Fe River in Gilchrist County, a short distance downstream from Lily Springs and upstream of Rum Island Springs.
The spring sits right on the river’s edge and is easy to spot from the water. A line of cypress trees separates the round spring pool from the main river channel, and a private boardwalk and dock extend from the bank toward the pool. Because the spring and surrounding land are on private property, it is not a public recreation site.
Spring Characteristics
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Magnitude | Second magnitude |
| Pool Shape | Roughly circular |
| Pool Diameter | ~50 feet |
| Depth | ~10 feet at main vents |
| Vents | Two visible flow areas |
| Water Clarity | Generally clear spring water near vents |
The larger vent is near the center of the pool and creates a visible boil on the surface. A second, smaller vent lies toward the back of the pool. Limestone openings and spring flow are often noticeable when conditions are calm.
Activities
Pickard Spring is not a public swimming destination.
Paddlers on the Santa Fe River may:
-
Glide past and view the spring from the river

However, the dock, rope swing, and surrounding land are private and should not be used.
Nearby Poe Springs Park and Rum Island Springs offer public swimming areas for those looking to get in the water.
