Blue Spring is a small spring-fed recreation area located on the Eglin Air Force Base reservation in Okaloosa County, Florida. The spring feeds Spring Creek, which eventually drains toward the Yellow River system.
Although it is located on military-managed land, Blue Spring is not limited only to military personnel. Public recreation access is available through Eglin’s outdoor recreation permit system, managed by Jackson Guard. Visitors should confirm current access rules before going, since Eglin lands may close for military training, fire danger, or management activities.
What to Expect
Blue Spring is a quiet, remote spring setting rather than a developed state park. The area is associated with primitive camping, hiking, and nature recreation. Photos and local posts show clear green-blue water, wooded banks, and simple dock or boardwalk-style access near the spring.
The surrounding Eglin reservation includes seepage streams, sandhill habitats, blackwater creeks, and spring-fed waterways. Blue Spring is notable because Okaloosa County has relatively few documented sizable springs compared with other parts of Florida.
Access
Access requires an Eglin recreation permit, and camping requires a separate Eglin camping permit. Visitors should use the official Eglin iSportsman/Jackson Guard system for current rules, permits, closures, and maps.
Avenza appears to offer a digital map for the Blue Springs camping area, but it is not the official permit or booking system.
