Pegasus Spring is a third-magnitude spring located within the Wekiva River basin in Seminole County, Florida. The spring forms a small spring pool surrounded by semitropical forest, with clear water discharging from an angled limestone vent roughly 1 to 2 feet wide beneath the surface.
A sandy boil is present farther down the spring run, and the spring contributes flow to the surrounding Wekiva River system. Like several nearby springs in the area, Pegasus Spring lies within an ecologically sensitive corridor known for high aquifer recharge and extensive wetlands.
Spring Characteristics
The spring vent discharges approximately 2 feet below the water surface and flows through a short spring run before entering the surrounding watershed. The area around the spring remains heavily wooded and undeveloped compared with many larger public springs in Central Florida.
Pegasus Spring is considered part of the broader cluster of springs associated with the Little Wekiva and Wekiva River systems.
Wekiva Basin Context
Pegasus Spring is located within one of Florida’s most important spring recharge regions. Maps from regional environmental studies place the spring within the Wekiva River protection area alongside numerous other springs, wetlands, sinkholes, and wildlife corridors that feed the Wekiva watershed.
